Part 1
Mrs. Hicks’s class showed their knowledge of volume and measurement by taking on the Volume Zoo Challenge! Students measured, calculated volume, and used their math skills to create Minecraft-inspired zoo animals.
A fun way to bring math, creativity, and problem-solving together!

Students put democracy into action in Mrs. Hicks' Social Studies class by using their voices and voting in our classroom election! As we learn about the democratic process, we now officially have all three branches of government established in our classroom!

🗳️It’s Election Day in Mrs. Hicks’ Social Studies Class! 🇺🇸
Students have been learning about the Constitution, the three branches of government, elections, and how our government works. Yesterday, our 6 presidential candidates gave campaign speeches, presented their campaign slides, and answered questions from their classmates. Today, students will head to the polls and cast their votes for Class President! 🗳️
It has been exciting to watch students experience the election process firsthand while putting what we’ve been learning into action!
We had the honor of approving Knight Walters as an Honorary boys basketball coach for this year at tonight's board meeting. Congratulations Knight and welcome to the team!!!!
Today in Mrs. Hicks’s fifth grade classroom, students celebrated Constitution Day! They created their own Classroom Constitution and received pocket Constitutions to keep! A great way to bring our learning to life!

To qualify, students had to earn a 3.5 GPA or higher and show outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and/or AP Exams during the 2025–26 school year.

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Milan Community Schools has updated the cell phone policy to comply with the new Indiana Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 78 on a "bell-to-bell" cell phone ban.
Devices must be turned off and put away, including cell phones, smartwatches, gaming devices, etc. from the first bell to the last.

I want to give a big SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to the Milan and Delaware fire departments for their efforts this morning containing the Bestway truck container fire that happened behind our HS school. The driver of the truck followed all protocol, alerting 911 immediately. The fire departments responded to the call quickly and extinguished the fire in a matter of minutes. Thank you to everyone involved, we sincerely appreciate all your efforts.
We recognized some of our boys track team last night. Gabe Riehle (400m) run, Lucas Cooney (3200m run) and Tyler Myers (300m hurdles) all qualified for the regional track meet with Gabe Riehle qualifying for the State meet where he finished 10th. Congrats to all our members!!
We had a wonderful night recognizing the Milan varsity softball team for all their success this year. The lady Indians finished the season with a 30-5 record, ORVC co-champs as well as sectional and regional champions. Congrats to all the players and coaches. #weRmilan
