For a recommended minimum donation of $10 per staff member honored, you can give a shout-out to a teacher, staff member, bus driver, or administrator. MES PTO is conducting a special campaign and will make a large yard sign for each honoree and place it outside MES to show the community how great the people who work at MES are. Your gift will be placed in a fund to help support the MES staff and students throughout various programs such as Field Day, field trips, school supplies, and much more!

Today 2nd graders took a field trip to The Place, a skating rink in Cincinnati. The students enjoyed an interactive STEM lesson and then were able to skate for two hours. They had a blast and so did the teachers and chaperones!

The first graders wiggled through the day learning all about Earthworms! They also welcomed a presenter from the IN Dept of Environmental Management.
After weeks of extra practice and studying, our 3rd and 4th grade Math Bowl team competed at Dillsboro Elementary and finished in 1st place in their division! Congratulations!

Boom Baby! The Indiana Pacers mascot, Boomer, visited MES this week. He was there to give motivation for doing our best, being a reader, and also ILEARN motivation for grades 3&4. Of course he was entertaining and did dazzling dunks!

Recently MES Kindergarteners completed their Project Lead the Way unit involving the sun. The main experiment was setting sand and gravel in the shade, in the sun, and in the classroom. Students could explain how the sun affects the earth based on the different temperatures of the sand and gravel. They also used the PBS Kids app to explore how we dress for different times of year and to dive deep into the differences between each season. They also discussed and explored how we get to experience change for all seasons here in Indiana, some states do not.
Genesis Summer of STREAM camp registrations are open! Launched in 2022, A Summer of STREAM brings exciting, hands-on camps and activities to ALL middle schoolers (5th-8th grade) across Southeastern Indiana, helping them explore Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math (STREAM) throughout the summer. Each camp and activity is designed to spark creativity, equip students with essential soft skills, and lay the groundwork for a future career pathway.

The sun, moon, and stars! First graders recently finished a Project Lead the Way unit on Astronomy. This unit fit perfectly with their recent reading unit. Students were able to explore and learn in collaborative groups.
