Milan Elementary School is excited to announce that registration for its 2026-2027 Paid Preschool Program will officially open on February 27, 2026.
Milan Elementary’s preschool program provides a high-quality, play-based learning experience designed to prepare students for kindergarten and long-term academic success. The program operates five days a week and focuses on developing foundational academic, social, and emotional skills in a nurturing school environment.
Enrollment Requirements:
Children must be 4 years old before August 1, 2026.
Students must be toilet-trained, unless enrolled through the ROD Special Education program.
A $100 deposit is required after registration to secure placement.
Families must complete the registration process through the Milan School Corporation website.
Parents and guardians may begin registering their child starting February 27, 2026.
Milan Elementary School takes pride in the success of its preschool program. Recent data shows:
100% of preschool students who remained at Milan Elementary passed the 2025 IREAD-3 assessment as third graders.
81% passed the 2025 IREAD-3 assessment as second graders.
90% entered kindergarten demonstrating or approaching kindergarten readiness on the 2025 Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA).
These outcomes reflect the strong academic foundation students receive through the preschool program.

Milan Elementary School is excited to announce that Kindergarten Registration for the 2026–2027 school year will be held on March 26, 2026.
Families with children who will be 5 years old by August 1, 2026, are encouraged to begin preparing now for this important milestone. Kindergarten at Milan Elementary provides students with a strong academic foundation while fostering creativity, social development, and a love for learning in a supportive and engaging environment.
Parents and guardians may schedule their Kindergarten Registration appointments by attending the Milan Fun, Family, and Facts Night on March 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This special event will allow families to learn more about the school, meet staff members, and gather important registration information.
Starting March 12th, parents can call 812-654-2922 to schedule a Kindergarten Registration appointment. Please note that those students currently attending the MES Paid Preschool program do not need to schedule appointments for Kindergarten Registration.
Milan Elementary School looks forward to welcoming the newest group of students and partnering with families for a successful start to their educational journey.

Mother Nature has held off long enough for MES to get their addition bricked. Steel is being set, so that means we will have a roof soon!

The champs are here!!! Your Winter Swim Race Champions are: 2 Hartman, 3 (Hensley) Gutzwiller, and 4 Strunk! Who will win in the spring? I know several classes are coming for the trophy!

MES is so thankful for our friends at the Milan American Legion. All three Legion organizations combined to give a donation to the Kicks for Kids project.

This week, we had a special visitor in the halls at MES. Needless to say, he was feeling Grinchy. Check out this video for some of his antics.

The end of semester means that MES has swim races!! Yesterday we had races for second and fourth grade. Third grade will have their races on Monday at 8:30.

The third grade music program was fantastic last night. Mrs Thomas and the students put on a dazzling program complete with snow! They were able to predict the weather to "bring on the snow".

MES was able to be visited by Mr. Dick Ernst this week. Mr. Ernst is the donor of the MES Wall of Fame. He was able to meet our first two members of the IXL Century Club (100 skills mastered at 100 smart score). These two will have their picture on the Wall of Fame all school year! Thanks Mr. Ernst and congrats to our first two Century Club members.
