Ripley County Tourney/Basketball Hall of Fame

The first week of January is Ripley County Tourney time.  This is an important tradition for Ripley County schools. Both the girls and boys basketball teams, junior varsity and varsity levels, face off in tourney play the first week of January.  The varsity girls play at Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday, January 8, with finals on Friday, January 10. The boys teams play their first rounds on Thursday, January 9, with finals on Saturday, January 11, all at Batesville.  What a great way to start the new year. We hope you’ll come out and be a part of this time-honored tradition in our county.

In Milan, we are pleased to honor two of the inductees into the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame.  First is Ray Baurley. He is receiving the Meritorious Service Award. Not only does Mr. Baurley have a tradition of service to our academic and athletic programs during his teaching career and in his retirement, but he continues to serve as our official scorekeeper.  It’s tough to find many people more dedicated to a school than Mr. Baurley and his wife, Linda, and we congratulate him on his well-deserved Hall of Fame induction.

Secondly, Milan honors Craig Cutter, a 1979 graduate and multi-sport athlete, who has gone on to a successful career in Colorado.  We look forward to their inductions, along with all of the other inductees on Saturday evening of the Ripley County Tourney.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is April 11, right here in the MHS Cafeteria.
