Milan Community School Food Service Information
July 13, 2020
Another school year is starting and the cafeteria staff and I look forward to providing your child with healthy, nutritious meals every day at school. All meals are planned following federal guidelines on child nutrition. Breakfast is offered daily for all students at both the elementary and high school cafeteria before the start of class. Watch for menus to come home with your child at the beginning of each month, they are also posted on the school website at milan.k12.in.us.
Here is some helpful information that explains how our lunch program works: Our school lunch program is computerized and is a prepay account. Deposits can be made by cash or check sent to school with your child. Deposits can also be made with a credit or debit card using EZPay on our school website. Each child has a unique identification number. When a child purchases a meal from the cafeteria the identification number is keyed in and the meal price will be deducted from the account. “Extras” can also be taken from the child’s account. Each child will need to learn their cafeteria identification number which will remain the same through graduation. The cafeteria is not permitted to have a “charge” program. If no funds are available in your child’s account, he/she will be served a regular breakfast and lunch for only one day. If your child’s account remains in the negative, an alternative meal will be served.
Meal prices for the 2020-2021 school year:
Breakfast: $1.40 ($.30 reduced meal price)
Lunch: $2.05 ($.40 reduced meal price)
Breakfast: $1.65 ($.30 reduced meal price)
Lunch: $2.40 ($.40 reduced meal price)
Meal and textbook assistance is available for those who qualify. To apply visit lunchapp.com via the school website or pick up a paper application at any Milan School front office. Completed paper applications can be returned by mail, dropping it off at any school office or sending it with your child to school.
I would like to remind those of you who participate in the lunch and book assistance program that a new application must be filed each school year. Applications can be filed by going to lunchapp.com via the school website or by filling out a paper application and returning it to the school. Please remember that you need to submit only one application per family listing all of the household members including elementary, intermediate, middle and high school students. The elementary, intermediate, middle and high school lunch programs share this information with each other so there is no need to send an application to all schools. All information is kept strictly confidential. If you have received a Notice of Direct Certification for free or reduced price meals, do not complete the application. Contact me if any children in your household are not listed on the Notice of Direct Certification letter you received.
If you have questions or need help filling out the form, please call me at 812-654-2922 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
