School Resource Officer Noel Houze received good news for our schools this week from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation. We were awarded a $12,000 grant from RSRF to purchase video stop arms for all of our buses. This is an important addition to our buses as the safety of our students is our first priority. Our bus drivers are safety conscious and this will give them an additional layer of protection. We are thankful to the Rising Sun Regional Foundation for supporting our schools in a variety of ways throughout the year.
We also found out this week that we will receive a $40,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Education to support our STEM initiative. You’ll remember that STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The state’s goal is for all schools to be STEM certified by 2025. To reach this goal, they have offered grant opportunities. This is the fourth time we have received grant funding from the state to provide necessary training to our staff, as well as supplies and materials to enhance project based, STEM instruction.
